I am of the opinion that there are too few merit badges.

Here is a short and ongoing list of merit badges for the Wikimedia developer community:

If at first you don't succeed Revert, Revert again badge: Awarded for reverting a revert in a crisis situation
I did a Git! badge: Awarded for flailing at git while a minimum of 2 people watch in IRC and give you conflicting advice
Montparnasee/SpiderMan 2 badge: Awarded for creating a train blocker
Train heist badge: Awarded for reverting your change out of train to unblock it
